Lenin Street

Bogdan Shirokov's pictures are mostly about fashion and recycling, mixing high fashion, classic sportswear and vintage pieces in the raw Russian streets.

Russian artist and photographer Bogdan Shirokov studied fine arts and painting in Western Siberia. Now, he lives and shoots in Saint-Petersburg and also works as a graphic designer. His work is inspired by the current Russian vintage fashion phenomenon led by fashionistas from Moscow and Saint-Petersburg, who buy vintage clothes and combine it with high fashion or classic sportswear to make unique outfits.

As the name of the photo series, “Lenin Street”, suggests, the editorial, styled by Violetta Sorokina who perfectly succeeded at channeling the true USSR fashion style, was shot at St. Peterburg’s street named in honor of Vladimir Lenin himself. Combining a feeling of nostalgia and freshness, it channels the desire of the post-Soviet youth to stop waiting for the change and become the change instead. It shows the hope they all share, a hope for their own country.
