Girls are not what they seem

Melancholy, misery, pain, and humour. Welcome to Martu's illustrated world.

Is it a creeper or vein growing through their body? Black hands and faces; girls are not what they seem – at least not in the illustrations by Slovak artist Martu. In the very special series, full of bright colours and dark and bittersweet undertones, made for Kink, she explores the roots of the problem.

„All the scenes of drawings and paintings go to the deep inside. They could be very dark, sometimes morbid, melancholic, absurd, humorous and vulgar.“
