On the edge of glamour and trash

Working as a stark contrast to the slick and glam side of the fashion world, the photoshoot by a Slovak photographer Mischel Warenits aptly titled 'Trash' is an uncompromising expression of her view on luxury in fashion.

Being a stylist, a make-up artist, an art director and a photographer, Mischel’s experience in the diverse fields allows her to fully explore the possibilities of fashion editorials and seamlessly translate her own unique vision into reality. In this photoshoot, she styled the bold garments from a collection named ‘Hidden Reality’ created by a Slovak fashion designer Petra Kubíková. The inspiration for the collection itself stemmed from the straight geometric lines of Japanese minimal architecture which was further enhanced by Mischel’s choice of backdrops and the use of make-up and lighting.

The photographer is playing around with visual cues and intricate “trashy” details set in an opposition to luxury, such as plastic bags and discarded tyres, as well as an element of symbolism representing the right of freedom of opinion and expression being taken away, interpreted by the use of a face mask.
