Fashion designer Pavel Vlodarski takes us on a trip to a space station in the alternate universe of Polish forests. Get your gear ready for a cosmic mission.
Welcome to the futurity of intergalactic alliance, space travel, dissolution of norms, and hi-tech apparel. Pavel Vlodarski, originally from Poland, who recently graduated from Fashion Design in Denmark, creates a parallel sci-fi universe infused with buzzing nostalgia, timeless and futuristic at the same time. His collection “21:37” is actually a cheeky reaction to the social affairs in Poland and by extension the whole European context. Using the timestamp of Pope John Paul II death in a meme-like fashion, the author stitches together various fabrics of social commentary, fantastic futuristic visions, statements against stern and conservative politics of his homeland motivated by strong religious beliefs, and playful beeping imagery. In this manner, he creates zippy patterns of colours, shapes, and rough cuts. Power suit for people who are ready to fly off to the universe, to save the dying order, or perhaps to create a new one. Set off on the allegorical fashion space odyssey in – 3 – 2 – 1 – 0.
