Fresh minds, fresh ideas. Read about our highlights from this year’s edition of Brno’s trendiest event, presenting works of exceptional fashion design students.
Fashion Event Dotek, taking place on March 25 in Brno, aimed to bring a truly unique breath of fresh air to the Czech fashion scene. By giving platform to the most interesting upcoming talents, it brought three local and three foreign designers together. Apart from the show, an online auction of the ADO Auction Collection, open till April 9, has been set up, with all profits going to Mamma Help, an organization focusing on supporting breast cancer patients.
Meet the designers that stole our hearts, and peek into the fashion show’s backstage through an exclusive photo gallery shot by Tereza Štouračová.
Dominika Kozáková (SK)
The Brno-based Set Design student showed her very own “Daily Routine” at FED, collection exploring the idea of a gender-free society. Bright colors, kitsch, and frivolousness, all combined in typically feminine clothes, as well as in menswear-inspired outfits.
Roman Častulík (CZ)
One half of the upcoming fashion brand BETAOMEGA, Roman presented a collection titled “Elizabeth”, which was intertwined with references to the era of the British monarch, such as extravagant collars and capes, lace, and pro-feminist slogans.
Janis Kutils (LV)
Lithuanian designer Janis Kutils—now based in London—introduced his latest collection “Unknown places”. The former penitentiary, decorated with a hammer and a sickle in a true socialist realism fashion, contrasted with the delicate minimalism of his designs perfectly. A clear inspiration by sportswear aesthetics was channeled through the chosen materials and colors, almost reminding of glossy window displays of small-town outdoor clothing stores.
“My work is mainly inspired by military wear, vintage and functionality. I love to explore creative possibilities within sustainability and upcycling.”
